As a
member of the California Grape & Tree Fruit League
you are eligible to participate in the
State
Compensation Insurance Fund Farm Bureau Group.
There are many benefits associated with
participating in this program, both to you as an
employer and to the League. It’s a “win-win”
situation for agriculture here in California.
Growers who insure with State Fund and participate
in the group program get a 6 percent discount,
access to specialized safety products, low minimum
premiums and personal assistance from expertly
trained safety and claims professionals. District
offices located throughout the state are staffed by
employees that live within the area they service.
The specialists and programs include:
A 24-hour toll-free claims reporting center. Our
representatives make reporting an injury quicker and
easier and help provide authorized medical treatment
as quickly as possible,
A Medical Provider Network that is designed to help
pass medical and industry savings on to you, Special
Investigation Unit, with staff investigators who
help each location submit fraud cases to district
attorneys for prosecution, In-house attorneys who
represent your interests at no extra cost, Claims
adjusters who are informed on medical, legal and
legislative developments, Vocational rehabilitation
counselors and return-to-work consultants who speed
the process of returning injured employees to the
work force, Utilization review by medical and
nursing consultants who are available to review
treatment for medical necessity, Claims managers who
average 22 years of experience in claims, and Claims
decisions that are swift and equitable, thus
reducing your claims costs.
Joining the California Grape & Tree Fruit League,
which is a subset of the California Farm Bureau
Federation program, is an excellent way for
employers to get more from their workers’
compensation coverage. Group members enjoy numerous
advantages that add value to a workers’ compensation
policy, including cost savings, convenient service
and safety programs. You don’t have to have a large
farming or ranching operation to benefit from being
a member of the group. Small employers with low
payroll save by paying a reduced group minimum
premium.
As an employer, you get industry-focused safety
services that may include the interpretation of
regulations, emergency-care planning, safety
seminars, and a review of workplace accidents and
their costs and trends.
A good example of this was the series of Heat
Illness Prevention Seminars that State Fund held
throughout the state in partnership with Cal/OSHA
Consulting Service. The 25 seminars were open to the
public. Experts in heat illness prevention educated
employers and their employees about the serious
dangers of heat illness.
