EUROPEAN GRAPEVINE MOTH 2011 QUARANTINE REQUIREMENTS (FRESNO COUNTY)
Fresno County has recently provided the League with draft agreements for “fruits other than grapes”, as several of the secondary hosts are harvested prior to table grapes and industry needs to receive these compliance agreements in advance of the season.

As of October 3, 2010, no additional European Grapevine Moths (EGVM) has been detected in Fresno County.

EGVM DETECTED IN LODI
San Joaquin County is now added to a list of six other California counties where the European grapevine moth (EGVM) has been detected and confirmed by officials.

EGVM UPDATE
As you know, a Federal Quarantine Order for the European Grapevine Moth (EGVM) has been established in the state and includes parts of southeast Fresno.

US (CA): RISING LABOR COSTS COULD TRIGGER CHANGES IN PRODUCE INDUSTRY
Immigration reform and stricter enforcement of current immigration laws could significantly boost labor costs for California’s $20 billion fresh fruit, nut and vegetable crops, according to agricultural economists at UC Davis and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

On Gov. Jerry Brown's desk is a bill that will change the way farm workers in California decide whether they want union representation.
Given Brown's pro-union history and fierce support for the rights of farmworkers, he is likely to sign into law Senate Bill 104 — the so-called Fair Treatment for Farm Workers Act.
